50 Commandments of Jesus:
1. Repent—Matthew 4:17
Matthew 4:12-17
Jesus Begins to Preach
When Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, he returned to Galilee. Leaving Nazareth, he went and lived in Capernaum, which was by the lake in the area of Zebulun and Naphtali– to fulfill what was said through the prophet Isaiah:
“Land of Zebulun and land of Naphtali,
the way to the sea, along the Jordan,
Galilee of the Gentiles–
the people living in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.”
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is near.”
Good morning, Lord, thank You that Your kingdom is near, thank You that You are near, that Your Spirit dwells in us.
Please help us start 2014 on our knees, repenting, purging our lives of that which is not of You, or will bring You glory. Please forgive us for our self-centered, selfish ways, please open our eyes to the fields ripe for harvest that are all around us. Please help us repent as we should, to stop, turn around, and go back, immediately, when Your Spirit prompts. Please help us lead others lovingly to repentance and reconciliation. Amen.
