Good morning, Lord

50 Commandments of Jesus

31. Beware of Covetousness—Luke 12:15

Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.”

Good morning, Lord, please help us hunger and thirst for righteousness, to set our eyes on eternal treasures, please forgive us for being too attached to the things of this world. You are our exceedingly great reward (Genesis 15:1), please help us trust You to add the things we need (Matthew 6:33), in proper quantity, and please help us steward well all we have, we pray in Jesus' name, amen.

HELPS Word-studies: Greed or covetousness:

4124 pleoneksía (a feminine noun derived from 4119 /pleíōn, "numerically more" and 2192 /éxō, "have") – properly, the desire for more (things), i.e. lusting for a greater number of temporal things that go beyond what God determines is eternally best (beyond His preferred-will, cf. 2307/thélēma); covetousness (coveting).
