Good morning, Lord

50 Commandments of Jesus

36. Ask in Faith - Matthew 21:21-22

Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”

Good morning, Lord, please help us understand what we are to ask for, so we ask properly, for Your purposes, not ours. We ask, like Your early disciples did, for You to teach us to pray, so we ask not for pleasures we can spend on ourselves, as James warns, we ask for divine guidance as You send us out into the fields that are ripe for harvest, please help us be productive laborers, disciples who make disciples, who make disciples, in Jesus name we ask, amen.

Luke 11:1-4
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
He said to them, “When you pray, say:
“ ‘Father,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
 Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.
And lead us not into temptation. ’”

James 4:1-3
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You want something but don’t get it. You kill and covet, but you cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
