Good morning, Lord

"...and they lived happily ever after." How many stories end with those words?

While studying Multiply with a friend the thought occurred to me that nobody has ever lived "happily ever after" in this life. If anybody ever had a chance, Adam and Eve possibly could have, but we know that they didn't. But we also know, praise God, that the solution was created before the problem of sin, at least human sin, existed. Jesus, the lamb slain from the foundation of the world, was prepared to do what the Father wanted, obey even to death, for our disobedience.

Were we meant to live happily ever after? Not in this world, not in this life. As C. S. Lewis observed, "if I find myself longing for another world, then perhaps I wasn't created for this one."

John 17:3
Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

One of my all time favorite verses, I have prayed this verse many times for many souls God has placed in my life. That they would live eternally ever after.

Good morning, Lord, thank You for putting eternity in our hearts (Ecclesiastes 3:11), please help us prepare ourselves and others for eternal life. We know we can't even comprehend what You have prepared for us (I Corinthians 2:9) but we anticipate and trust You for our ultimate outcome. Please help us prepare this day for that inevitable day when we will see You, in Jesus' name we pray, amen.

Ecclesiastes 3:11
He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.

1 Corinthians 2:9
However, as it is written:
“No eye has seen,
no ear has heard,
no mind has conceived
what God has prepared for those who love him”
