Psalm 32:1 Blessed is he whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. 2 Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit. 3 When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer.
Good morning, Lord, thank you for this psalm and the wonderful words about forgiveness of sins, please help us put deceit far from us. We want to be holy as you are holy, but we both know we can’t do it by ourselves, please help us to be what you want us to be, to go where you want us to go, to share your love with those you want us to share it with.
We pray for the unreached people of the day, the Kanuri, Yerwa, Beriberi of Nigeria, a people group of about 5,724,000, whose people groups “consist of the Yerwa Kanuri, the Manga Kanuri, and several other sub-tribes.” They “have been Muslims since the eleventh century…the Koran emphasizes the importance of the family and the supreme authority of the father…women are considered inferior to men in the Islamic scriptures, and are treated as such in Kanuri society.” Lord, we pray the Kanuri would know that you have called us to be holy, as you are holy, that they would know there is a redeemer, your only son, that he stands at the door and knocks, that the godhead desires to dwell with them and be their god. We pray the wiles of the enemy would be confounded among these people, he has held far too many in chains of darkness for far too long. Please help those who love you among this people group to radiate, to shine with peace and joy and your love.
Lord, we pray for the persecuted church in Pakistan (where “believers in Christ face extremist ideologies on every side”). Lord, thank you for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are bold enough to take a stand in the middle of extreme enmity, thank you for their faith and their example, we know they will have trouble in this world. We pray you would work in the lives of their persecutors, show them that the love the persecuted church has, that that love cannot be quenched or extinguished.
We pray for David and Deborah Shelton, thank you for their faithful example to us at HPCC over the years, we pray the treatments David is receiving are helping and will revive his brain and bring healing to him.
