Sin releases shame
Sin precedes death
Sin requires sacrifice
Leviticus 4:13-15
“ ‘If the whole Israelite community sins unintentionally and does what is forbidden in any of the Lord’s commands, even though the community is unaware of the matter, they are guilty. 14 When they become aware of the sin they committed, the assembly must bring a young bull as a sin offering and present it before the Tent of Meeting. 15 The elders of the community are to lay their hands on the bull’s head before the Lord, and the bull shall be slaughtered before the Lord.
1 Peter 3:18
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit...
Hebrews 10:1-7
Christ’s Sacrifice Once for All
1 The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming–not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship. 2 If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? For the worshipers would have been cleansed once for all, and would no longer have felt guilty for their sins. 3 But those sacrifices are an annual reminder of sins, 4 because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
5 Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:
“Sacrifice and offering you did not desire,
but a body you prepared for me;
6 with burnt offerings and sin offerings
you were not pleased.
7 Then I said, ‘Here I am–it is written about me in the scroll –
I have come to do your will, O God. ’”
Good morning, Lord, thank You for dieing for our sins, my sins, every one of them, past, present, and future. Thank You for dieing, not just for my specific sins, but for my sinful nature, so I might have a new nature, a nature like Christ's, so that I might do Your will, not mine. Please help me honor Your sacrifice with my whole being, loving You with all my heart and with all my soul and with all mind mind and with all my strength, in Jesus' name, amen.
Mark 12:30
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. ’
