Good morning, Lord

1 Corinthians 16:13
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong.

"be men of courage" - ἀνδρίζομαι, andrizó, literally "act like a man"

Strong's Concordance
andrizó: to behave like a man, to play the man
Original Word: ἀνδρίζομαι
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: andrizó
Phonetic Spelling: (an-drid'-zom-ahee)
Definition: I act like a man, am brave.

HELPS Word-studies

407 andrízomai (from 435 /anḗr, "man") – properly, "to act as a man," i.e. as a full-grown, mature man; (figuratively) to be responsible and courageous by taking the initiatives God reveals through faith (used only in 1 Cor 16:13). Accordingly, 407 (andrízomai) is directly associated with 4102 /pístis ("faith").

Good morning, Lord, thank You for this holiday to remember those who have bravely fought and died for the freedoms we enjoy, for the many, many soldiers who have laid down their lives for this great nation.

Thank You for our brothers and sisters in Christ all over the world who have defended the faith with their lives.

Most of all, thank You, Jesus, for your andrizó, your courage and commitment to suffer and die for our sake, there is none like You!

Hugh Latimer was burned at the stake with Nicholas Ridley. He is quoted as having said to Ridley:

"Play the man, Master Ridley; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out.
