Good morning, Lord

1 Peter 3:18
For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive by the Spirit,

Were You There
Negro spiritual

Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
Oh, sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?

Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Oh, sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?

Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?
Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?
Oh, sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they laid him in the tomb?

Were you there when God raised him from the tomb?
Were you there when God raised him from the tomb?
Oh, sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when God raised him from the tomb?

(The painting at the top is on of my personal favorites, it is a self-portrait, Rembrandt recognizing the stark reality that he was there, his sins drove Christ to the cross, and he himself had nailed him to it, and as you can see by the expression on his face, was dutifully raising the occupied cross. I don't know who the others are in the painting, I loaned one of my favorite volumes, "Christ in the Fine Arts," to a friend.)

Good morning, Lord, eternity won't be long enough to thank You for what You have done for us, thank You, thank You, thank You, for Your great love, for our undeserving souls. Please help us tell others, please help us share some light with somebody who is in darkness, today, soon, perhaps now, we pray in Jesus' name, amen.
